Holiday Dreams Album – with Pictures + Printed Journalling

A little while ago I designed and created a Double-Paged Gatefold Album that I called Holiday Dreams – or for clarity’s sake, Vacation Dreams. I had some sunny and exotic photos in mind when I created it, and this week I’m happy to be able to share it with you again, but this time with pictures! 🙂

I’m also sharing a great tip for your large photo mats: leave them unmatted and turn them into printed journalling – so cool! You can check it all out in the video & pictures below.

If you’d like to create this album yourself with your own materials, you can purchase my very elaborate & clear (written) tutorial – with a huge amount of helpful pictures! – in my shop. Now with a 10% discount for International Scrapbook day (discount offer will end Sunday May 6th, 10PM CET) – just like every other tutorial in my shop!

If you’d like to purchase a kit with the Ubud Dreams paper collection that I used, plus lots of embellishments, check out the Photographs & Memories webshop, which offers a complete kit INCLUDING my tutorial! 🎉 It is US based so will hopefully be very convenient for people in the North Americas, shipping-wise.

A Double-paged Keepsake Album

I designed this new mini album around three criteria: its dimensions should be something like 15×15 cm (6×6″),  it should have two spines and each spine should hold its own set of pages.

My creative process ended up with me coming up with this 14.5×17 cm (5¾ x 6¾”) gatefold mini album, in the fresh colors of Kaisercraft’s Ubud Dreams collection – colors that remind me of the sea and small mediterranean villages 🙂 Which is why I’m dubbing this my Holiday Dreams keepsake album.
And guess what, Ubud turns out to be a town on the Indonesian island of Bali! Okay, so not the Mediterranean but still: Holidays galore 🙂

The album holds seven interactive page assemblies with all new page designs, four attached to the left spine and three to the right; the inside covers offer even more room for pictures.

If you can’t wait to make this album yourself, check out the (written) tutorial which is available in my Etsy shop. 🙂

NEW: There’s also a kit available at Photographs & Memories online webshop! This includes my tutorial at no additional cost!

Enjoy the video and pictures below and let me know what you think in the comment section! See you next week! :-).

Family Tree Mini: Remember This Moment Forever (filled with photos!)

For this Family Tree Mini I used Echo Park’s Reflections paper line, which I combined with a sheet here or a few die-cuts there of two other collections, which I mention in the video.

The album sports a belly band and ten interactive page layouts, including the inside covers. The page designs are based on my Life’s a Picnic mini album – it keeps amazing me how great a difference the simple use of another paper collection makes for the tone & atmosphere of your mini!

As a bonus I filled it up with pictures – for this was part of the commission – which I know always helps viewers to get a better idea of how such minis can be filled with pictures and the effects you can add by die-cutting, glitter-gluing and stickering 🙂 .

In case you’d like to make an album like this, please check out my tutorial on Etsy – which gives you all of these page designs except the family tree page, plus four more! As for how to make the final page – the actual family tree page – simply watch the video, and/or the video of my own personal Family Tree Mini, in which I explain the (very simple) creative process.

Boxing Days – Create Your Own Storage or Gift Box

Recently I created my own storage box out of chipboard, which was great fun! Its dimensions are 22 x 17 x 7 cm (8⅝ x 6¾ x 2¾”), for that way it would hold all the memorabilia from my father’s funeral. Not just the loving condolances cards I received at the time (2014), but also the lyrics to the songs we played at the funeral, and the memorial prayer card. Since my father loved the ocean I chose a maritime theme and used the Summer at the Beach paper collection by Studio Light. This collection offers a great choice of 3D cut-apart sheets and diecut sheets, which is perfect for decorating and creating layouts.

This kind of box is also ideal as a gift box: you can personalize the theme and put the actual gift inside. Because of its dimensions, it’s perfect for a book or a daily planner or some such, for most of them will fit (please do measure the book you’d like to give first, and adapt your box measurements if necessary!). This is what I did with a second box I created for a friend: I chose Bo Bunny’s Garden Journal paper collection to decorate, and put a book inside for her.

In the video and pictures below I’m showing you both boxes: the maritime storage box as a memorial keepsake, and the spring-themed book gift box for my friend. As I said, they were great fun to make and if you’d like to create one yourself, there’s an affordable tutorial available in my Etsy shop!

Have fun creating, stay crafty!

Four-fold Photo Board “Baby’s First Year” (+ 2 cards)

Hello all!

Today I’m sharing with you a new design, that I’ve dubbed a four-fold photo board! To celebrate the birth of her niece’s baby girl, my mother asked me to create something special and this is what I came up with.

This photo board combines the concepts of a gameboard-like, easy to stow away photo keepsake and an elaborate quadruple layout piece to showcase your photos and memorabilia in one great overview. This could be a great conversation piece at your table 🙂

It’s perfect for housing one year of pictures, for it is aimed at showcasing twelve picture highlights, one for each month. Hence the theme I chose: Baby’s First Year. There is room for some extra photos though.

The four-fold photo board would also be perfect for many other themes! I can picture a family’s history, adding a family tree to one quarter of the board, and using the other three for pictures of your father, your mother and your children (or yourself). Other themes that I could see fitting this design very well: the four seasons, baby-to-bride, puppy to senior dog (or other pet), modelling portfolio, career highlights, holidays, travel, etc. Gosh, so many ideas now I think of it! 🙂

There’s a tutorial waiting for you in my Etsy shop 🙂 . There are also some kits available: Bundle of Joy Boy by Echo Park, which is the boy version of my own project, and Heirloom by Kaisercraft, which has an ancestry theme. You can find them in my Kits section.

Anyway, it was great fun to create this project – I even created two cards from the leftover papers – and I hope you’ll enjoy it too! 🙂

Treasured Memory Keepsake Album DeLuxe

This is probably the largest (or rather bulkiest) and most complex mini album I’ve created so far. My mother asked me to create a beautiful keepsake album in memory of my father, so you can imagine I went all out on this one.

She chose one of the paper lines in my stash, the gorgeous and very fittingly vintage romantic Stationer’s Desk by Prima Marketing.

The show & tell video has turned out rather long, approx. half an hour, so I decided to do a second version, a Fast Forward Edition so to speak, for those of you who just want a quick overview. You find both videos below plus lots of pictures, so take your pick or enjoy both of them 😉

Girly Girl’s Precious – an XL mini album (incl. some Hello Kitty!)

This luxury mini album is 20×27,5 cm (approx. 8×11 inches) and was commissioned by the grandmother of a 7-year old girl who’s fond of – among other “girly stuff” – Hello Kitty and the Belgian/Dutch pop group K3. I offered Grandmother a choice of different paper lines, and DCWV’s Preppy Princess immediately caught her eye. Then she asked if I could incorporate Hello Kitty and K3. Of course! I cried enthusiatically. Only to scratch my head at home, for here was a whole new challenge. I mean, it’s not as if there’s any Hello Kitty scrapbook paper, let alone any K3 lines…

Well, check out the video to see if you think I succeeded. 🙂

Oh, and as for the scrap mats in the album, you can make them yourself pretty easily, just check out my tutorial to see how.

Want more of where this came from? Check out my other mini albums!
But not before you like and subscribe of course 😉

Forever Memories: a keepsake mini

This is a mini album that I created in remembrance of my father, who passed away very recently. I’ve since filled it with pictures of my dad, which makes it a true keepsake. I’ve called it Forever Memories.

I used DCWV’s Immortal Love paper to decorate. Although this paper stack was probably originally designed with a romantic theme in mind, I found it is also perfect to remember a loved one who passed away.

You can read the eulogy that I wrote and spoke at my father’s funeral here, should you be interested; there’s also a Dutch version available here.

Thank you for liking & subscribing, feel free to leave a comment.
