Tea-riffic Micro Album!

(Nederlandse tekst + video hieronder!)

I’m very happy and honored to be a Guest Designer for Crealies this month! 🎉

For my first guest designer project I designed a completely new variation on my own micro album designs, and I’m calling it a Tea Bag Micro Album! This title says it all, for it literally is that: a micro album (3 x “) with tea bags for pages. Which of course makes it a great and original gift, plus it’s stinking cute because it’s so very small! 💛

It was very fun to make and super affordable for it only takes one sheet of 12×12” design paper for the bulk of what you need! Sweetness 👍🏼😃

Filled up with tea bags!

Zoo Adventure – a Folders & Pockets Album

I was pondering a new design of mini album, one that would not only be able to hold a lot of pictures, but would also make it easy to add still more pictures that you forgot in your first round of filling the album. Eventually I came up with this week’s project: the Folders & Pockets Album

With this fun new design you’ll be able to shuffle the pictures in your album at any moment, and add to their number endlessly. Also, of course, these same folders and pockets offer plenty of easy room for your tickets, receipts and other memorabilia! No more tedious glueing your pictures to the pages, just stick them into the folders and pockets and be done with it 🙂

Check out the video below to see it! If you’d like some more inspiration, check out the second version I created, with a completely different theme and papers. And if you feel inspired to create your own, as a gift or for yourself, please check out the written tutorial – with almost 250 clear pictures and easy-to-follow instructions.

Have fun, see you next week!

Travel Light Folio Sequel: Say Cheese!

My first Say Cheese projects utilized a mix of the first and second versions of the collection, but this week it’s all about Say Cheese IIIThe Say Cheese collection by Simple Stories has been so successful that they came out not only with a second iteration (Say Cheese II) but also the abovementioned third. All three are very modern and fun collections with a black, red, white, yellow and skyblue color palet. They’re centered around – though subtly – a Disney theme, specifically, Disneyland.

I chose to recreate my Travel Light photo folio with the Say Cheese (III) papers. I designed it last year and it was aimed at an easy way to store and enjoy vacation memories. The papers that I incorporated then had a very vintage feel, thanks to the older K&Company collection called simply Travel. As always it was a wonderful surprise to see what that same design looked like with a completely different paper collection.

This project was sponsored by Scrapworld (also known in Dutch as Scrapwereld), whose owner is also the brand ambassador for Simple Stories in Europe. She was very kind to supply me with the materials for this folio.

This time I created the folio with 12×12 inch cardstock, instead of A4, which is why I added a companion tutorial to the original one in my shop. This comes free with my Tutorial #21: Travel Light, so all of you who already purchased that, check out your Purchases tab on Etsy and download the companion with no extra cost!

Free tutorial: Wrapping, Matting & Wire Binding (+ printable pages!)

Hi all,

New year, time for new things – as I think I mentioned in my first blog post of 2018 🙂

So I designed my first printable, namely the pages for a so-called networking booklet. This booklet is perfect to keep with you on your (new) job, as an easy little notebook to jot down all of your networking connections: their names, position titles, departments/companies, and their connections to your own work and position. It offers page layouts in SIX color schemes (the video shows four, but I designed two more: black/gray and blue/red), plus matching title pages. It’s available in my Etsy shop as of right now, and comes both in English and in Dutch (in 1 purchase).

As I’m still a hardcore paper crafter, I also did a video tutorial on how to create the covers & binding, and threw in some matting technique as a bonus. Freely available for you all, as a thank you for your ongoing support. 🌷

Feel free to let me know what you think, and what kind of future printables you might be interested in!

Three All Occasions Folios

As I promised you last week, I have now made the tutorials available for the three photo folios I shared with you in my previous blog posts. Two of them were part of a pre-made collection folio – you can check out last week’s video to refresh your memory. And the third and smallest one went with my Box Pocket Mini Album, which you can find in last year’s Christmas album post.

I’ve actually listed a tutorial set in my shop, for your convenience. It contains two tutorials plus a cutting guide with some different measurements & extra instructions – so three downloadable files, one for each of the folios in the picture above!

Please let me know if you like these kinds of projects, for like you, I too am always looking for some inspiration 🙂

All is Bright: A Box Pocket (Christmas) Mini Album

As my first Christmas mini has been completely loaded with family Christmas pictures since last year’s holiday season, it was time to create a new one – yea! 🙂

I rummaged through my (by now fairly impressive) stash and came back out with the beautiful vintage-yet-fresh All is Bright papers, a 2012 collection by My Mind’s Eye. With its 18 x 25 cm (7 1/8 x 9 7/8″) it’s larger than its Tis the Season predecessor. It sports nine interactive page layouts, plus what I’m calling a box pocket on the inside front cover.

I created one of these box pockets before, in my large Girly Girl’s Precious mini (see picture below), but this time I incorporated it in a tutorial! It’s already waiting for you in my Etsy shop 🙂

Since the box pocket can hold all kinds of nice things, like a stack of photo mats, cards, a mini folio or even an entire hardcover notebook, I have not included my mini folio in the album tutorial. Instead it’s part of its own – very affordable – tutorial set, including a bonus cutting guide for a larger version!

Check out the video if you’d like to see all the fun & interactive page designs, and sing along with the Christmas tune: “Aaaaall is calm, all is bright….”

I wish you all a very merry Christmas!

Sunny Times – an XXL Flexible Spine Photo Album!

Hi all! I’m excited to be able to share this, my latest album! It is HUGE: it measures 9 x 12″ (23 x 30.5 cm), which makes it perfect to house the loads of pictures from any event or period of which you want to cherish many memories.

Since this particular album is beach-themed, it was created with our summer vacation in mind – so I named it Sunny Times!

It houses ten base pages – so 20 page surfaces – with lots of extra add-ons for your many pictures. You can add pictures of all sizes, ranging from wallet-sized all the way up to 8×10″ (20×27 cm), and in addition it offers lots of pockets and tuck spots for your memorabilia.

So check it out, enjoy the video, and consider your purchase options if you’d like to create one yourself: there’s the tutorial only option – a 178-page written tutorial (with over 500 clear pictures!) by way of immediate download – and then there’s the kit + tutorial you will very soon be able to get from Photographs and Memories, which is a kit full of goodies to create the album plus my aforementioned tutorial (no extra costs).

Gift idea: Mini Album Card!

Special occasions require special cards, and with this interactive wallet card you can go many directions. To give you some examples, my first card of this design had an Encouragement theme, the second version commemorated the first year since my father’s passing.

This week I’m sharing a third way you can use this card: as a mini album card, to send (or give in person) someone some pictures of dearly remembered moments you shared with them! Which is perfect for someone who really already has everything they ever wanted – I mean do you really need to give them more ‘stuff’? I’m convinced that memories in the form of pictures – nicely done up – will always be much appreciated, and also add that extra personal touch to your gifts.
This design offers room for 6-8 pictures and of course a personal message.

So, hope to have inspired you, let me know what you think in the comments! 🙂

Stacks of Love: a Stacked Page Mini Album – Tutorial version

StackedPageAlbum

Several weeks ago I shared my first stacked page mini album with you, an experiment with a different kind of binding system than I had been used to. For instead of the hidden hinge system, this one is based on stacked pages – hence the name… 🙂

It is not my invention, I’m not sure whose it is. I’m guessing it’s most likely based on Laura Denison’s stack the deck binding system, on which someone then elaborated.

Anyway, I did add a personal flavour, for my stacked page albums have twelve pages instead of the usual six – so 24 page surfaces! – but with a regular-sized spine. You can see the first iteration of this album in the above-mentioned earlier blog post, created with the Domestic Goddess collection by 7 Dots Studio.

This week I’m sharing the version on which I based my tutorial. This album is somewhat larger, has more elaborate page designs and sports several photo mats and tags, the latter – among others – by Crealies. The album was made with Prima Marketing’s lovely Tales of You & Me collection. I’m calling this version the ‘Stacks of Love’ mini album 🙂

The tutorial is listed in my Etsy shop. It is a (written) English language tutorial with measurements in centimeters and inches. It is 130 pages long and holds 324 clear pictures aimed at visual learners. As a bonus it also contains the main measurements for the Domestic Goddess version!
Moreover, I’m very happy to be able to point you to the kit that is available for this album as well! Go to the (US-based!) Photographs and Memories online store, where you will find kits for several of my projects, including this one.

So enjoy the video and please feel free to leave a little note below, in the comment section 🙂

A Double-paged Keepsake Album

I designed this new mini album around three criteria: its dimensions should be something like 15×15 cm (6×6″),  it should have two spines and each spine should hold its own set of pages.

My creative process ended up with me coming up with this 14.5×17 cm (5¾ x 6¾”) gatefold mini album, in the fresh colors of Kaisercraft’s Ubud Dreams collection – colors that remind me of the sea and small mediterranean villages 🙂 Which is why I’m dubbing this my Holiday Dreams keepsake album.
And guess what, Ubud turns out to be a town on the Indonesian island of Bali! Okay, so not the Mediterranean but still: Holidays galore 🙂

The album holds seven interactive page assemblies with all new page designs, four attached to the left spine and three to the right; the inside covers offer even more room for pictures.

If you can’t wait to make this album yourself, check out the (written) tutorial which is available in my Etsy shop. 🙂

NEW: There’s also a kit available at Photographs & Memories online webshop! This includes my tutorial at no additional cost!

Enjoy the video and pictures below and let me know what you think in the comment section! See you next week! :-).

Fun2craft: Two Box Cards

A superfun type of card is the so-called Box Card. Its design has been around for quite some time I think, and I don’t know who originally came up with it. This kind of card looks like a box but behaves like a card, in that it is made from cardstock and fits perfectly into an envelope!
By the way, it’s in no way comparable to a so-called explosion box, of which you can view some examples here.

Using the richly colored Fly Free paper collection by Kaisercraft, I created two: one as a birthday card, the other as a New Baby card. If you like die-cutting, fussy-cutting and overall embellishing, this is an absolute Must Try for you! 🙂 To help you along check out my very affordable Tutorial #26, containing easy-to-follow instructions with 69 very clear pictures, which you can acquire here.

Have fun watching the video and do let me know what kind of box cards you would like to see, or for which occasions you have created one yourself! 🙂
