Six Easy Card Ideas

In very busy times like these I don’t find much time to craft, let alone many hours continuously. Nevertheless, a girl still needs her cards to send to her friends & extended family! So, here’s six card ideas, all of which are very easy to make and which take up relatively little of your precious time.

My First Corner Pop-up Card

I always like 3D cards that will fit into regular envelopes. I don’t know, it’s the mystery of it I guess – I mean, how is such a thing even possible? 🧐🤪

This week’s corner pop-up card was great fun to make, and my aunt was really happy with it! I used Scrapberry’s Happily Ever After papers, in lovely lavenders, pinks and lime greens.

Oh, and this was another ‘first time’ for me, for I got my green screen and immediately played around with it – not actually knowing enough yet of course, which is why the green parts of my card turned out transparent and I had to skip the cool backgrounds in the actual demo part! Oh well, I’ll live.

1-Layer Explosion Box with only 2 sheets of design paper

Up until now my explosion boxes had always had at least two layers of decorated cardstock, oftentimes even three. This week however I’m sharing a different kind of explosion box:

  • it has only one layer;
  • it only needs two sheets of double-sided design paper to make and decorate

The two sheets I used were from the Vintage Circus collection by Scrapberry’s, which has beautiful muted tones, giving it a vintage yet colorful atmosphere. I decorated with fussy-cut bits from the design paper – and, I admit, a tiny little bit of colored cardstock to diecut some curls.

In its center it sports a tiny paper box with some birds and butterflies ‘flying away’ from it, and in its center there’s a ‘floating’ micro book with some actual pages!

So there’s an idea for an alternative birthday card, which mine is going for. You can’t mail it of course, you’ll have to hand it out yourself – but that only adds to the fun! 🙂

If you’d like to make one yourself, I offer a very elaborate pdf tutorial with dozens and dozens of clear pictures in my webshop.

You’ve Got Tea Mail!

This week I’m sharing another one of my tea card ideas. As you may know by now, I love to send my friends a warm and cosy hug-in-a-mug over the mail, for instance when I know they’re coming home from a long and hard road trip, late at night. Nothing says “Go ahead and elax for some Me time” like a glass filled with nice, hot tea you just got from your friend who’s thinking of you.

I try to come up with different designs every time, especially when sending it out to the same person (like my dear friend Christa 🙋🏻), and this week it is a pocket card. After all, not everything has to be complex and difficult. Just go for it, keep it simple and decorate to your heart’s desire. Pay attention to the details though, like having the color of your tea bag coordinate with your design papers 🙂

Enjoy the video and pics below! And do leave a comment, I really like to hear from you all.

Two Types of Shabby Chic Cards

Shabby chic is quite a broad term to describe a style of (usually interior) decoration that is or appears to be pleasingly old and slightly worn. There are various color themes and accompanying atmospheres that go with the term; it is not however what we would call vintage. Below I’m embedding some digital mood boards I found on Pinterest to show you two very different kinds of shabby chic.

Based on these two mood boards I created two shabby chic cards, one to represent each type. So, what type of Shabby chic do you prefer – if any? 🙂

Nursery Gift: Cute Micro Album with Forest Friends

When a new grandmother asked me to create one of my little micro albums as a nursery gift for her daughter, she wanted a modern, on-trend paper line, and “no pinks please!” – even though her grandchild was a baby girl. And why not, after all, practically every color looks cute on a baby and why should her granddaughter be limited to the most predictable one 😉 .

We settled on Scrapberry’s very cute Forest Friends. Not specifically a nursery collection I don’t think, but very fitting nonetheless with its soft colors and adorable little animals.

I created it after one of my own previous designs, the Fresh & Bright micro album – the tutorial of which is ready and waiting for you in my Etsy shop.

Have fun watching the video and please don’t forget to like this post before you leave! 🙂

Four Summer Cards with Studio Light

I’m a big fan of the Dutch brand Studio Light, which offers, among many things, several lovely 6×6 inch pads which simply consist of different patterns within a certain (combined) color theme. These pads don’t have posh collection names, but are simply numbered 01, 02 and so on. These themeless and therefore relatively neutral pads offer the special opportunity of creating projects with which you could combine almost any embellishment from any collection.

The following four, happily colorful cards I created with Studio Light pad nr. 05, combined with several different embellishments and some cutapart tags and labels from Panduro and Scrapberry’s.
