A few weeks ago I discovered the beautiful Vintage Artistry Wedgewood collection by 49 and Market. Even though I loved the entire collection, I purchased only a single sheet to make it easier (for me) to immediately use it, and to save some money at the same time.
Now the challenge I gave myself was to create more than one project that all featured this paper. I came up with three cards and they all turned out lovely. Gosh that paper is so stunning.

In very busy times like these I don’t find much time to craft, let alone many hours continuously. Nevertheless, a girl still needs her cards to send to her friends & extended family! So, here’s six card ideas, all of which are very easy to make and which take up relatively little of your precious time.

A wallet card is a great category of cards if you want to send out something more elaborate and interactive than the regular single card or folded card. I’ve designed several versions of wallet cards, among which this type, which has two deep pockets, a flap and a belly band. You can add tags with sentiments, pictures and one time I even sent out a small bag of flower seeds in one of the pockets.
They are of course suitable for any occasion and you can choose your papers accordingly. This week I’m sharing a birthday version in bright and happy summer colors. For decoration I added several die-cuts, stamping, fussy-cutting, Stickles (glitter glue), enamel dots, washi tape and even some heat embossing. The inside flap has a punched border with cute birthday presents – thanks to a great Martha Stewart punch. The back flap sports a tiny orange umbrella brad that in itself has nothing to do with birthdays but that I simply fell in love with. In the pockets I tucked two large tags on which I printed some fun birthday sentiments.
All in all quite an elaborate card full of nice little nooks and crannies – and still relatively flat, so easy to send out in an envelope.

The other day I bought new bed linens – very colorful ones of course, as I generally tend to feel attracted to colorful things. They were packaged in plastic with a cardboard wrapper which displayed a picture of what the linens would look like once unpacked. And it was that cardboard picture I used to create this card!
The colors were simply amazing and I embellished only a little here and there. Did have to mat the inside and backside of the card of course, and for this I used some Studio Light papers.

So anyway, this week my tip is to look beyond your design paper pads and check out other options – like cardboard wrappers of bed linens 🙂
Sometimes it’s nice to be able to send some great pictures of you and your friend along with a birthday card for said friend. This card design is perfect for showcasing 2-4 pictures, together with a nice birthday wish!
It’s based on my wallet card design that’s explained in tutorial #22, so check that out of you’d like to create it yourself. It’s easy and fun!
This time I worked with Bo Bunny’s Rose Cafe collection, to coordinate with the color scheme automatically dictated by the pictures that I used 🙂
This week’s tip is about how to best utilize that cut-apart sheet you have lying around – for instance when you’ve used up most of your papers but can’t bring yourself to throw out that one last sheet. Here’s the good news: you don’t have to! (ever! I promise).
Instead, cut it apart into all its bits & pieces, combine these with some simple-patterned coordinating papers and get your Layering on 🙂

What birthday card to make for that soccer-loving friend or relative? How about a soccer-themed card, decorated with a custom-printed birthday wish, a Johan Cruijff tag and a wooden letter ‘K’ for his first name. With Stickles, of course.

In my last post I shared an XXL album with you, created with Kaisercraft’s Salty Kisses paper collection. As is most often the case, I had some papers left over. So I created a lovely summer-themed birthday card, combining a Kaisercraft sheet with the awesome die-cuts of Studiolight’s Summer at the Beach collection and a fun sentiment stamp by Crealies.
And by the way, cards also make great mini album page inserts! So there’s a bonus idea for you 😉

As always I had some beautiful papers left over from my previous (large) project, the Explosion Boxed Mini Album I shared with you last week. And as usually I could not bring myself to get rid of them, even though most of them were strips and scraps. So, here’s the two cards I managed to force them into 🙂 – one of them only one-sided for by that time I literally had no more scraps left.

Sometimes I like newly brought out design papers but don’t necessarily want to buy the entire collection. This is why I only bought two sheets of Kaisercraft’s recent PS I Love You (double-sided) collection, so I could still savour their gorgeous new design patterns, wondering what I could make with them.
As it turns out, 2 entire sheets with 2 extra 6×6″ pieces are enough to create three lovely cards, matted on the front, the back and the inside 🙂
So hopefully you find this as encouraging as I – for now you can perhaps also more easily enjoy more of these gorgeous new design paper collections that come out evert month! (yea!)

Today I’m sharing another idea for a birthday card to send to a man in your life. As for its shape, it’s a so-called tri-shutter card. I cut this one with a special die (by Crealies), but you can cut these yourself as well, just check out my free video tutorial, which I’ll embed again at the end of this blog post for your convenience.
For decoration I used Oxford, a nicely colorful collection by Basic Grey with mostly masculine overtones. I also did some stamping: a circle-shaped Happy Birthday stamp on the front, and some smaller gift-wrapped presents on the other panels which I fussy-cut and then lifted with some dimensional tape. And last but not least a Kaisercraft birthday sentiment which I stamped in two colors on the center panel.

A superfun type of card is the so-called Box Card. Its design has been around for quite some time I think, and I don’t know who originally came up with it. This kind of card looks like a box but behaves like a card, in that it is made from cardstock and fits perfectly into an envelope!
By the way, it’s in no way comparable to a so-called explosion box, of which you can view some examples here.
Using the richly colored Fly Free paper collection by Kaisercraft, I created two: one as a birthday card, the other as a New Baby card.
