1-sheet Summer Breeze Step Card – No Cardstock!

Double-sided design paper sheets are the perfect material to create a quick step card. The one I used is from the Summer Breeze collection by Studiolight.

You can either find a template online and print/draw, fold and cut it yourself, or you can use a step card die. With the card’s basic shape taken care of, the only thing left is to decorate!

For instance: cut an ATC card and stamp a sentiment. I also added some heat embossing to the sentiment, for some extra interest. Then apply some kind of glitter glue all along the edges and adhere as a center piece.

Use some hot glue or other heavy adhesive medium to adhere larger decorations, like these bulky roses.

Don’t forget the backside of the card! I know it’s just the back, but you can still add some nice little detail to surprise the careful examiner 😊

For instance, add some transparent texture paste through a stencil on part of the back!💡

Add some final diecuts and smaller decorative elements, and you’re done – quick & easy!

Birthday Bash Stepcard (+ template!)

Step cards come in many different shapes and variations, but they always have this common denominator: there’s always at least one ‘step’. The variant I’m showing you today is what some people call a Center Step Card, which is a ‘one-step’ step card. The first one I ever made I entirely cut, scored and shaped myself, which was quite some work because of the specific cuts and creases of this particular type. After that, I bought myself a die which made that part a lot easier. Mine is from Crealies but I’m sure other brands out there have them as well.

If you don’t own the die, here’s a template for you to make one by hand:

The papers I used here are from Pink Paislee, the collection is called Birthday Bash. They are fun summer colors and some sheets have a specific birthday theme. Each sheet is double-sided so with only two sheets I got myself four patterns.

I always like to cut only one piece to mat the front and backs, which takes some extra detailed measuring. Or you could use the same die, if you have one. I show you how in my free video tutorial on how to mat a step card using a die.

The final step is of course decorating. Here I used some layering, die-cutting and stamping. Ans as a finishing touch I wrote 80 (which is how old my aunt now is) in both glitter glue and liquid pearl, on both the right and left panels.

Free video tutorial: Working with a step card die & How to mat

This week I’m sharing a free video tutorial with you all. Sometimes when working with a card shape die, like a die for a step card, it’s not always easy figuring out how to mat it. Which is why I’m sharing that specific technique in this week’s video.

Both the step card die and the little sentiment stamp Proficiat (Congratulations) are by Crealies. The paper collection is the stunning An Eerie Tale by Graphic 45, which has dreamy images and wondrously lovely autumn colors.

Vintage Notelet: a Printable Step Card

This week I’m very excited to share Vintage Noteletmy latest patterned paper template. My patterned paper templates are my printable templates from which to create the most intricate of cards with hardly any effort on your side. You do need a color printer of course, and preferably some matte photo paper. You can purchase all of my printables in the Printables section of my shop.

This particular template is based on a step card die by Crealies, who sell internationally, but if this die is no longer available you can also cut and fold a step card yourself, there are plenty of tutorials on the internet.

For this particular step card die, I did a free video tutorial a while back, which I’ll embed at the end of this post for your convenience.

With the printable template comes a cutapart sheet, from which you can fussy-cut your own decorations. It’s fun to find new places for each of them every time you print the template! I created two step cards myself, and did each of them up differently, using only the template and the cutapart sheet! You can see how they each look below.

Enjoy the video(s)!

4 Secret Admirer Cards

Having already created two projects with Kaisercraft’s lovely Secret Admirer paper collection – a Folio Album and a Romantic Drawer box – I had hardly any papers left over, except some scraps.

But since I had really fallen for these gloriously colorful papers, I couldn’t bring myself to throw away even what little I had left. And good thing I didn’t, for as it turns out they had four lovely cards still within in them! 🙂

How to Create a Step Card

Recently I showed you a new step card I created, and today I’m sharing a little video tutorial on how to create one yourself.

In the first 2 minutes I’m showing you a finished and fully decorated step card, the rest of this 7 minute video contains the tutorial.
Please be aware that I created this card with a step card die (by Crealies); you can of course also cut & score everything yourself, but that is not included in this video tutorial.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Thank you for liking and subscribing, have fun crafting and see you next week!

Deeply Loved – a Step Card

It took me a while to figure out what a certain category of cards with all these different mountain & valley folds was called, so I started out with calling them ‘special folds cards.’ (Yeah, I know.)

Anyway, as it turns out, they already had a name, for they are called step cards. This is the category of cards that has different kinds of, well, steps…

You can create them entirely by hand, or use a die. My first step card was created manually and I figured out all of the cuts and folds by myself, just by looking at a sample picture in Kaisercraft’s free Workshop magazine. It worked out great, but was a lot of work.

Today I’m sharing my second step card, a different kind this time. And this time I used a die (by Crealies) – which does make life a lot easier. 🙂

This particular card was for a wedding, which is why I’ve dubbed it Deeply Loved. I used Prima Marketing’s Almanac paper pad, plus the cutapart sheet from Kaisercraft’s On This Day collection. And added lots of cute decorations.

See for yourself in the video and don’t forget the pictures below it, which you can also check out on my Pinterest page. 🙂

In a couple of weeks I’m going to show you what die you need and how to use it, so stay tuned!

Happy Birthday – A very special folds card (Step Card)

I created this card after an example I saw in a Kaisercraft flyer. First I experimented with normal white printing paper until I got the scoring and cutting lines right – and then I went for the real thing 😉
To create one yourself, just freeze frame when I show you the “naked card”!

The paper I used is K&Company’s lovely Que Sera Sera collection – the same design paper I used for my boxed mini album!
