My Thinking Proces While Decorating a Box (relaxing video)

This week I’m sharing my thinking process while decorating an altered box. Some things are planned, but not everything. Most things work out, but not everything – and how to fix those. All in all I was pretty contented with how this little treasure chest turned out, and my friend was thrilled to receive it 🙂

If you want to know how to mat such a box in the first place, then check out one of my previous blog posts – or simply scroll down and find that video at the end of this post.

With its 25 minutes this week’s video is a bit long, and I’m mostly rambling on about what the next decorative element might be and why, plus I’m including several tips along the way. So get into your Chill Out mode, get a great cup of coffee or tea and a little snack, sit back, and most of all: relax and let the tone of my voice wash over you. Who knows, if you watch this in bed you may even fall asleep before the end – in which case: Sweet Dreams! 🙂 💤

Three Tiny Nursery Treasure Chests

Sometimes pictures say more than words – and a video tells it all 🙂 In today’s post you’ll find many detailed pictures below the show & tell video, but first I’d like to show you one of the basic micro chests as it was before was altered:

These are simply the cutest, and once altered they are near-perfect gifts! For instance, what about these three I’m showing you, aren’t they the most adorable baby shower gifts? 🙂
So enjoy and let me know what you think!

Adorable Altered Wooden Jewelry Gift Box

A little altered treasure chest can be a cute gift in an of itself, but turning it into a jewelry gift box will add a lot of interest!

This micro treasure chest measures 6 x 4 x 4 cm (2â…œ x 1½ x 1½”). I painted it inside and outside (always remove the hinges & closure pieces first), then decorated it with Stationer’s Desk design paper by Prima Marketing plus some flowers.

Then I folded a piece of design paper to hold a pair of earrings – which is removable so the micro chest can be reused.

So, it’s all very simple to do – but what an amazing gift this makes! Think birthdays, weddings, graduations, Mother’s Day, and of course Christmas 🙂

Enjoy the video & pictures, hope you feel inspired!

December Deluge 8: Christmas Treasure Chest – A Signature Sheet Idea

This December month I’ll post many projects on my blog, to give you some inspiration and ideas for your Christmas projects – and also to help you spend your holiday time creatively. In my previous posts I showed you several December projects, the first of which was a quick Christmas Mini Album, so you can start there if you’d like to see them allToday: Part 8 of this December Deluge of creative ideas ðŸ™‚

As you may know, Graphic 45 paper collections always have a so-called signature sheet, which features the title design of the collection. It’s always the first sheet in a 12×12″ or 8×8″ paper pad, and its design generally depicts a collage of elements that together make up the title of the collection.

In several of my previous December Deluge projects I used the Nutcracker Sweet collection, and used up all of my 8×8″ papers – that is, excepting one: the signature sheet! There’s two of them in each pad, and I saved them for something special. So in this blog post and my next I’m sharing two ideas to use these special signature or title sheets.

First: a Christmas Treasure Chest – enjoy the video and pictures below!

Next up: December Deluge pt. 9: an 8×8″ Signature Sheet Christmas Card!

Cute little treasure chest

Here’s another idea to use up all of your design paper scraps: create scrap mats and then alter a little chest with them!
For this one I used my “neverending” design paper stack Serenity, by DCWV – neverending, for I STILL have paper left, even after lots of projects! 🙂

As for what to put into these cute little gift boxes: think gift card, lipstick & eye shadow singles, jewelry, a tiny teddy bear, or, like I’ve done with this one: a matching micro booklet to put all your happy wishes & cute little friendship photos into, plus maybe even a gift coupon of your own making.

Hope you feel inspired by the video – and if so, please like & subscribe 😉

See you next time!

Prima Romance Novel Altered Treasure Chest, pt. 2 – Completed

Here’s the little treasure chest again (see part 1), the one I altered with paper from Prima, the Romance Novel 6×6 inch (15×15 cm) design paper pad.

The mini tags were an extra challenge, in that I wanted to print text on them instead of writing them by hand. How do you print text on teeny-tiny labels and tags? I can’t say everything went perfect from the start, can’t say there were no misprints either, but: in the end I was able to come up with some pretty awesome mini prints on some pretty tiny mini tags! 🙂 And if you’d like to learn how to do this as well, check out my free tutorial!

Of course there’s a video below, but first a quick reminder of what I started with: “Before”

And here’s “After”:

I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out, and I really like how it matches my colonial wooden cabinet so perfectly… Plus, I’m especially pleased with how the quilled dandelion turned out – thanks to a tutorial by Inna from Inna’s Creations.

As I mentioned in part 1, I made this box on commission for someone who is going to send it to his lady friend who lives far far away, across many oceans and seas. Of course I sincerely hope that the intended recipient, “R”, really loves this little treasure chest her friend commissioned for her!

So, on to the video! The first one is in English, the second in Dutch.
