Enjoying creativity

Welcome to my blog!

This blog is meant to share with you what I’ve created, sometimes inspired by someone else’s creative ideas and building from that, sometimes just riding the wave of urgent creativity that sometimes sweeps me off my feet, taking me away to hours of dedicated – and, I admit, sometimes slightly obsessive – “creating”. The reason I’m posting these things on a blog, is that I carry within me the deep conviction that every person has at least some creativity inside him or herself, combined with the ability to enjoy beauty; maybe you’re already aware of it, but if not then perhaps it can be “triggered” by enjoying the creative ideas of others.

As for me, I have a deep, inexplicably ardent love for colors and color combinations – in every possible way: clothing & accessories, decorating my house, the way I design Powerpoint presentations at work. And so on and so forth. It’s hard to explain, but it’s as if color is like some kind of oxygen for my soul.

Since this is the introductory post, I’ll share a little personal information, just this once… My name is Katja, I’m from the Netherlands and I was born in 1971 (so you do the math). I’ve always been creative. At the moment I enjoy photography and altering images creatively, I’ve been writing stories and poetry, and I love to combine these to create what I call photo poetry – see image below for an example. I’ve dabbled in decoupage and napkin technique, I’ve designed and made my own accessories and right now I’m discovering and exploring the wonderful world of paper crafts. But most of all, I love to try and discover new ways to be creative!

Meanwhile, I’ll keep building and expanding this blog; which may take a while since I have to start from scratch. So please, subscribe to my blog! It’s free, and it’ll ensure that you won’t miss a single post.

Feel free to comment on any of my posts, I’d love to hear from you all!

Thanks so much,

Katja

  1. Hello Katja,
I really like your poem “Hannah”. I am intrigued….is she your daughter? grand daughter?
I have a daughter Hannah, and I related your poem to her. Wonderful words…surrounded by light to bring forth Light yourself. Beautiful. Love of our Savious beautiful.
I have just discovered your YouTube channel and watched a couple of walk throughs of your lovely books. I too have recently discovered the world of interactive scrapbooks and have become quite obsessed with working on them. I haven’t used any myself yet but love creating them for others.
Where your driving passion (after Jesus) is colour……mine is texture. 🙂 I see, find, delight in and create texture everywhere.
I look forward to exploring your blog. I personally haven’t made that step yet. Seems like it would take too much time.
Well, thankyou for displaying to us all your wonderful God given talents.
    Much grace to you,
    Karen (Australia)

    • Wow Karen, thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderful comment.
Hannah was in fact one of my many beloved little guinea pigs (check them out at Caviary Desert Garden – they’ve all got biblical names with their own personal bible texts that inspired those 😉 ). Sometimes when one dies, it coincides with a certain event or theme in my own personal life, and then I create this kind of personal photo poetry (which combines writing a poem with some serious photo editing).

It’s awesome that texture is “your thing” – you might consider doing a blog or a Youtube channel to share your unique, God-given creativity and what inspires you. That is, if you can find the time – for your absolutely right, it does take time. But you don’t have to write super-long blog posts you know, just jot down a couple of lines and let photos and/or videos do all the talking for you 😉
      Anyway, thanks again,
      many blessings,
      ~ Katja

  2. Hi Katja I don’t know where I have been all this time but I have just found you on YouTube and also here on your blog. I absolutely adore your mini albums especially the Flora and Fauna, it is gorgeous, I love it so much. Will you consider making a tutorial for this style of album, I would happily pay for this as I am sure many others would too.

Keep up the creating Katja and thank you so much for sharing them with us, I feel honoured.

    Crafty hugs
    Elaine

    • Hi Elaine,
Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to comment! Awesome you found my blog and YT channel!
I’m already considering writing a tutorial, but it’ll take me a while to finish it, since it will require 100+ pages plus lots of pictures.
So please be patient, there WILL be tutorials of my albums in the (hopefully near) future – just stay tuned here or on YT, I’ll keep you all posted.
Thanks again for your kind compliments!
      Hugs,
      Katja
