Christmas time is nearing and for all of you who’d like to create their own Christmas cards but are wondering how not to make them all mostly the same, I’ve compiled a stack of cards – and 33 variation tips to go with them!

A while ago I designed an interactive wallet card that perfectly fits your 6×6″ paper pads. It takes 9-10 sheets of paper for one card – which is perfect especially if you like projects that help you destash a bit (for all of you Paper Hoarders in denial out there đ ).
For the first edition of this card I used a Kaisercraft paper collection, which I like because practically all of their collections come with die-cuts and sentiment ATC cards. That is why I chose Kaisercraft for this second wallet card as well. The Time Machine collection is a mostly masculine collection – stunning with its sophisticated darks and teals and beautiful specialty papers.

Hi guys, I’m very happy to present my latest design: a very sturdio folio album, which I’ve therefore dubbed Sturdio đ .
It consists of three accordion-fold page assemblies, rolled into one neat mini album. This one’s theme is the Four Seasons, since I used Graphic 45’s beautiful floral calendar collection Time to Flourish. I kept the months in their proper order, thereby creating three trimesters for one entire year of pictures.
I was completely in the Zone when I designed and created this, which is why I haven’t been able to write a tutorial. I promise I will write one this year, and thank you for your patience, for it will take me creating a second one of these sturdios.

Today I’m sharing a second iteration of one of my wallet card designs. I used the Simple Stories Say Cheese collection, including some tags and cutaparts, to create a lovely birthday card. The bright, high-contrast colors of this paper line make it very suitable for winter birthdays – like my friend’s, who has her birthday in February. So I printed some fun birthday sentiments on the large tags – though you could also do some stamping or even use them as photo mats. The inside of the card offers room for journaling or a personal birthday message.
Although I used several sheets of design papers to decorate, this type of card will also allow you to use only one sheet of double-sided design paper – to see how that might look, check out last year’s Easter iteration!. That way you won’t need much more than two pieces of cardstock and one sheet of design paper!
All in all it was a very fun project which I enjoyed creating just as much as the first one, so check out the affordable tutorial if you’d like to create one too!

You’re all probably very busy enjoying your Christmas holidays, and preparing for New Year’s Eve, so I’ll keep it short but sweet with a blog exclusive, so no video this time.
Since winter has only just begun, I thought I’d share a home decor idea with you: why not throw some decoupaging at some wooden boxes, but also a coffee mug and even a lamp!  đ Use candle podge for the candle and textile podge for the lamp, grab some nice napkins and you’re all set!
And when you’re done: don’t forget to accessorize your home in the same color scheme, which will give your living room a surprisingly new and fresh look.

Sometimes I buy only a couple of sheets of a certain paper collection. Perhaps there are no more available (because it is an older collection) or perhaps I simply want to create a few smaller projects and have no need for an entire paper pad.
This was the case with Candy Cane Lane, a 2014 collection by Bo Bunny. I bought only 7 sheets of 6×6″ (15×15 cm), plus the button set of the collection. Threw in some flowers from my stash, and I was perfectly set to create two lovely, double-layout Christmas cards! đ

There’s a particular 1-sheet mini photo wallet of which I’ve created several by now. It’s created from only one sheet of double-sided 12×12″ design paper, and it looks something like this:

This week I’m showing you a new micro version of this design, created with a 6×6″ sheet of paper! So cute! They measure only 2â ” (6 cm) and can hold little pictures, or you could write little notelets with personalized messages, as I have.
These are quick to make and would make great alternatives for your standard Christmas present tags đ

Little boxes and chests are great gifts for guys, for you can alter them any way you like to give them a masculine look & feel. Some time ago I altered a little chest with the Craftsman paper collection by Prima Marketing. Today I’m showing you the same basic chest – looking completely different!
This time I used Cold Country papers by 7 Dots Studio, a gorgeous collection in cool gray, black and violet tones. I stamped a sentiment onto the top tag and adhered a photo of our team to the other side – for this was a Goodbye & Thank You gift for our (now former) boss. I also diecut his initials and stamped them with tiny ‘Bedankt’ sentiments – which is Dutch for Thank you.
Like with the Craftsman edition, I also included a refrigerator magnet – neatly kept in place by the magnetized right side of the box. This time it said Thank You So Much.
The ‘real’ present was a group gift: as a group we added a gift card, which fit neatly into this mini chest.

I’m very pleased to share with you today a unique design that I recently finished. I’m calling it a Folio Album, and this particular one I dubbed Neverending Memories. It’s a great design that allows you to store (or take with you) your piece as a neat mini album (the album aspect of the folio album), while folding it out on your table when you want to showcase your photos in one fairly large but still very manageable overview (the folio part).
I used 17 sheets of 12×12″ decorative paper to create it, which keeps it well within range of one pack of design paper – keeping it reasonably affordable to create. I used the stunningly teal Winterbird design paper collection by Tilda. You’ll also need some cardstock of course, as well as some embellishments of your choice.
It’s somewhat easier to create than an actual mini album, since there’s no binding of pages, nor any chipboard that needs to be turned into an album cover & spine. I really enjoyed designing it, and had great fun creating it!
And:Â I went the extra mile and wrote a tutorial for you all đ . It has 120 pages and holds 430 pictures! You can check it out in my Etsy shop, where it’s offered as a direct download pdf file.

One can never be too early to create their Christmas cards, so let’s kick off with my first card this year! đ
It’s a silver & pink winter-themed gatefold card of 5 1/8 x 5 1/8 inch, tied closed with a cute pink ribbon. The paper that I used is by a nameless Dutch brand, which I bought a couple of years ago in one of our home decor shops. Very affordable, so a lot of bang for your buck! đ

Je kunt niet vroeg genoeg aan je kerstkaarten beginnen, dus hierbij mijn persoonlijke startschot van het kerst- en nieuwjaarskaartenseizoen! đ
Deze zilver & roze winterkaart is 13×13 cm en heeft klapdeurtjes die met een bijpassend lintje zijn dichtgestrikt. Het papier is merkloos, gewoon van de Xenos – lekker betaalbaar en toch leuk! đ
Met dit kaartje doe ik trouwens mee aan Challenge nr. 221 op het Dutch Card Lovers challenge blog – spannend! đ
I used pink glitter glue around the edges of the paper and strengthened the ribbon holes with glittered gray eyelets. / Roze glitterlijm langs alle randjes en een glittergrijze eyelet om de gaatjes te verstevigen waar het lint doorheen gaat.
Opening the card reveals a small, border-punched pocket that holds a tag, matted with white cardstock to write your personalized Season’s Greetings. / Als je de deurtjes van de kaart opent kom je bij een smalle pocket, afgewerkt met een randpons. In de pocket een roze tag, met daarop stevig wit papier voor je persoonlijke kerstboodschap.
I used the same pink glitter glue around the edges of the tag again. There’s also a cute little pink bling brad, just for fun! / Dezelfde roze glitterlijm siert ook de randen van de tag. En: er zit een gezellig bling splitpennetje voor de afwerking – ook roze natuurlijk! đ
And for a nice finish, I matted the back of the card as well. / En voor een mooie afwerking ook designpapier op de achterkant van de kaart.

Here’s several ideas for some bookmarks, large & small.
Bookmarks are the ideal quick scrap project: it’s quick, fun and perfect for using up those lovely scraps you have left over from your other projects. Also, they make a great gift, for instance as a companion piece to a novel that you’re gifting someone (or, in my case, a hardcover comic đ ).
These bookmarks have no bulk whatsoever of course, for they have to fit tightly between the pages of your novel. Except for their very top, for that will be the show piece, sticking out above your book đ

Sometimes we’re surprised by an invitation from a friend to come celebrate something with her. Like in this case, my friend invited me to dinner in her new house – that same evening! So I needed a quick card that wouldn’t take me the whole day to finish. The Tilda Winterbird cards & tags pad offered just the right solution, I embellished one of the cards while following the original pattern of the card itself, simply adding texture and dimension.
Most of the flowers and other embellishments are from nameless brands in my stash, but two of them are by Prima Marketing: the rose in the right hand corner is from Prima’s Rondelle collection; the larger cream flower just above that is from their Songbird collection.
