Easter encouragements

Usually I don’t send out Easter cards, but this week I decided I would, because of these strange times we live in. After all, we can all use some spring-themed cards with some encouraging words.

So here are my five cards (one more than I’m sharing in the video!), created with the Easter Greetings collection by Craft and You, and some encouraging words 🙂

Starting off with card #5: “Praying for you” and “You have been given this mountain to show others it can be moved.”
“This too shall pass”
“You are never alone”
“Let your faith be bigger than your fear”

New Design: Harmonica Micro Album

Hi all!

I’m very happy to be able to share my latest design in one of my favorite categories, the Micro Album. This one I’m calling a Harmonica Micro, by which I mean that each of its four page assemblies consists of harmonica-style panels, held together with a cute and practical belly band.

You only need two 12×12″ sheets of double-sided design paper to decorate, which makes it a very frugal little project. 🙂

So check out the video for all of the details, and if you’d like to make it yourself, an elaborate tutorial is available for you in my shop.

Have fun!

Summer Album Box Set

Tadaaa, it’s finally here: my Summer Album Box Set! I started working on this somewhere in March, presented the first of the two minis in April, and shortly after that fell into the Abyss of Crafter’s Block. But now I’ve re-surfaced and I’m proud to present to you the finished project!

For the accompanying 4-tutorial set, check out Tutorial #45 in my webshop. You get a lot of bang for your buck, for you get 170 pages and almost 400 (!) very clear pictures guiding you through the steps, for all of you visual learners. Of course a supply list is provided as well, plus links to my video tutorials showing you techniques you can use while creating this album set yourself.

Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Craft Life Update & Video Tutorial

Hello everyone!

So I’m back after a 3-month hiatus… Check out my update, and also my latest project, two tri-fold cards with Studiolight’s Celebrate Spring papers – which I’m not just sharing with you but also showing you how to make at the end of this video!

Guest designer project: Gift Card Mini Folio

Hello everyone,

Today I’m very happy to share another Guest Designer project for Crealies again!

This time I designed a completely new Mini Photo Folio which also functions as a gift card holder. This mini folio will hold at least 12 pictures so it’s a great little gift for anyone! I decorated with several awesome Crealies products, like layered flower die-cuts, a mini envelope holding a mini message card and their latest small-yet-detailed mini leaves stamps.

I used a mediterranean-themed paper collection, which would be great for your vacation pictures. Of course you can make one for any occasion imaginable, especially if you add an actual gift card to Crealies’s cool gift card slider diecut. Think wedding, birthday, new baby, masculine, Easter, back to school, heritage, etc. etc.

The folio is an exerpt from a more elaborate new mini album design of mine, which I already showed you in my previous blog post. For a complete list of the Crealies products I used, click here.

So, enjoy the video and pictures below! Feel free to leave comments and tips or ask any questions.

As always, it has been a pleasure to design with Crealies products.

A One-Hinge Mini Album + Some Updates

Perhaps you’ve noticed by now that I haven’t posted weekly videos for a little while anymore. I’m still trying to post something on the blog, but there isn’t always video footage to accompany it. The reason is that for the last 8-9 months my focus has been elsewhere: my health. I’ve worked hard at getting healthy and as a result also lost 31 kilos (68.3 lbs) of weight! I may do a vlog episode on how and why I did that, if anyone is interested.

Anyway, that meant a new obsession, and as a result less time and energy to spend on papercrafting. Be that as it may, I’m still working on designing new projects, albeit slower and less frequently.

Like the one I’m sharing this week: it’s a special design of mini album, with a deep box pocket and only ONE hinge for the three pages. It’s part of a larger design, an actual 2-album box set, but I haven’t finished that yet.

For this first of the two albums I used Studiolight’s Celebrate Spring paper collection, including their usual accompanying punch-outs and die-cuts, which are great decorations. I also used leftovers from several other paper collections, since the dimensions of the album (12 x 14.5 x 6.5 cm / 4 3/4 x 5 3/4 x 2 1/2″) allowed me to make good use of the relatively small scraps of those other papers.

Enjoy the video and pictures, and do leave a comment below this post if you feel so inclined! 🙂

Quickscrap Project: Springtime Tag / Bookmark

Spring is coming, and although it’s still howling and storming with raging winds and rain here in the Netherlands, I already pruned my apple & pear trees and the first daffodils are blooming in my garden 🙂

So, time to take my Celebrate Spring collection by Studiolight and create something happily colorful. I created a relatively large tag, using some papers, diecuts and cut-aparts. The butterfly is a Prima butterfly made from white fabric, which I sprayed and inked myself.

Since this tag was going to function as a bookmark, I made sure to keep everything as flat as possible. The only little bit of dimension I used was near the top edge, since that would be sticking out from a book 🙂

And since it would also go with a birthday gift to my friend, I gave it a birthday theme on both sides!

In the Pocket: a Tag Briefcase Mini Album

While Autumn has arrived and stretching its legs with some really cold temperatures here in the Netherlands, I thought I’d design and share a little Four Season’s mini album. I used Graphic 45’s calendar collection Time to Flourish, which of course automatically offers seasonal colors and themes.

The cover design makes it a cute little suit case with a magnetized closure and a ribbon grip, that will stand on its own. Each of the ten pages are pockets, holding a tag that has been decorated on both sides but still leaves room for wallet-sized pictures.

All in all a very cute little gift – think Thanksgiving, Christmas, simply Summer or basically any seasonal holiday 🙂

Like to make one yourself? Go ahead and purchase my tutorial, offering lots and lots of clear pictures, guiding you through the creative process step by step. And for people who have worked with several of my album tutorials: this time I’ve used a different binding system, so not the hidden hinge binding, but the stack the deck binding. If you don’t know how that would work, check out my tutorial.

Enjoy the video and let me know in the comments what you think!

Two Cards with Spring Market

This year’s fun, colorful and on-trend Spring Market collection by Cartabella caught my eye, so I was very happy that Wendy, with the Scrapwereld (or Scrapworld) papercraft store (selling internationally as well!) very generously offered to sponsor my work with this lovely collection. I ended up creating four projects with it: my Double Take Mini Album, my Double Take Micro Album, and the two cards I’m sharing with you this week.

One is a lavishly decorated double card, the other an elegant tri-panel card, showcasing the lovely colors & patterns of the collection. For the second one I mainly used die-cuts and labels from the collection, but of course you could also add one or more pictures or personal sentiments instead.

Enjoy the video and find some inspiration! And please don’t forget to click the like & share buttons underneath this post 🙂

New Design: a Two-Page Brag Book

On the brink between Summer and Autumn, I’m proud to present my new, summery-autumny Two-Paged Bragbook 🙂

This time I used not one but three paper collections, which for me is the absolute exception, definitely not the rule. And I also threw in some digital scrapbooking again. Not only did I use my own graphically designed paper for the binding system, but I also enhanced the background of one of the pictures and did some digital collaging. And lastly, I dolled-up my own picture… well, what can I say, I just couldn’t help myself 😉

Above: Text die by Crealies

It was commissioned by a group of my co-workers as a gift to one or our retiring colleagues. So I designed it to hold as many pictures as there were co-workers who joined the gift giving, and had them all write on a unique tag.

As you’ll see in the video, this is another great group gift!

Of course I wrote a tutorial for all of you who’d like to create such a great mini album yourselves. It’s fun to make and it really makes for such a great gift. As an added bonus, you don’t need the usual ‘thousands’ of patterned paper sheets, as it only has two page assemblies!

Oh, and I also threw in a card, made with the leftover papers 🙂

So, enjoy the last weeks of summer and hopefully your autumn will be as colorful as this album 🙂 See you next week – don’t forget to like, subscribe and leave a comment!

Printable Template: Napkin Fold Card

This week I’m happy to introduce you to another one of my patterned paper templates! This time the templates are for a so-called napkin fold card, or origami fold card. I’ve created several of these cards before, which you can all see in the video below, and I also did a free video tutorial on the technique – which you find embedded below as well.

It’s so fun designing my own papers! This time you can create three different sizes of napkin fold cards, for I designed papers sized 6×6″, 7×7″ and 8×8″, all three are available as one – very affordable! – set in my shop, for you to print as many times as you like, provided it’s for personal use only. I’ve come up with two patterns, one I dubbed Hydrangea, the other Bougainvillea. Hope you enjoy these, let me know in the comment section below!

Double Take – a Mini Album for 4×6″ pictures

This week I’m sharing my latest mini album with you all. It’s designed specifically to hold 4×6″ (10×15 cm) pictures, without it being too large or bulky. I always like my albums nice and ready to take with me 🙂

The design collection I used was the lovely Spring Market by Carta Bella, sponsored by Scrapworld, an internationally selling papercraft supply store located in the Netherlands.

This is a fun little album, I really enjoyed creating it, and despite of its moderate size it will hold at least 65 pictures, probably even more!

So check out your purchase options, either the tutorial only, available in my Etsy shop, or the complete kit, which is all the materials PLUS the tutorial, over at Photographs & Memories (available very soon!).

Enjoy the video and leave a comment if you have any questions or remarks to share!
